Network News
The Interim Advisory Board has been working hard to develop the Terms of
Reference for the Network. These will be posted on the website once
they are finalized.
CNHHE assisted the Canadian Environmental Network with the delegate
selection process for a recent Environment Canada Consultation on a
Regulatory Framework for Air Emissions. CNHHE’s Delegate Selection
Process is available for use by all
government departments.

Chronic Disease Tool Launch
The Canadian Public Health Association (CPHA) has developed a chronic
disease
planning tool to aid in the prevention of chronic disease. The tool
presents eight
Critical Success Factors to strengthening chronic disease
prevention and
management, with guiding questions for each.

Model Toxic Use Reduction and Safer Alternatives Act, 2008
The Canadian Environmental Law Association (CELA) released an Action
Plan and
Model Toxics Use Reduction Law in Ontario to reduce the use of toxic
substances in
manufacturing, workplaces and consumer products in Ontario.

Model Canadian Environmental Bill of Rights
The first model Canadian Environmental Bill of Rights (CEBR) was launched
on
United Nations’ World Environment Day June 5, 2008.The CEBR model
legislation
would protect in law the right of all Canadians to a healthy
environment.

Lead Found in Artificial Turf
New Jersey Department of Health and Senior Services (NJDHSS) found, after
testing
a number of community artificial turfs, levels of lead that pose a potential
public health
concern. The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission
(CPSC) is investigating
